Personality Perfection: Explore SOM STORE's Unique Theme

SOM Store is a Concept Store that sells various brands that Slovak and Czech fashion designers created. D415 designed the 209-square-meter store to establish collaboration and equality between the work of a fashion designer and the work of an architect. While the theme carried in the design of this store is the type of human personality, namely introverted x extroverted.

The introverted x extroverted theme is visible when visitors enter the store through the entrance. From the front of the store, it has not been seen as a whole that the designer's collection is on display, hides the collection, and has an introverted character. On the right and left sides of the store are product displays made in a row with a certain slope to hide the collection from the outside of the store. When walking into the space, the designer's collection will gradually be revealed and become a side of the extroverted character.

The interior design of this store applies a neutral color palette, namely gray, beige, and white. The neutrality of colors throughout the space is intended to highlight each designer's collection. The ceiling of this store is arranged crosswise and is a raw plasterboard steel profile. This simple structural material serves for strength and aesthetics, where it is installed without additional surface treatment. To illuminate the display side of the clothes, white lights are installed along the top of the display to the diagonal of the ceiling. This lighting adds depth to the display.

In the middle of the shop, a long bench with a young wood grain finish becomes a display of heel products. In addition, customers can sit on this bench to try the product. This display is made multifunctional, also as an area separator between the left and right sides of the store. The corner of the bench is like an installation for displaying heels with the same material as a clothing display. The arrangement of products in this area is designed to be minimalist and neat. In contrast, the middle side of the store has a glass table display that shows the transparency of a product. Some accessories and headdress products are on display here.

For customers who want to try wearing clothes, a fitting room is provided located in the corner of the store. This room is distinguished by using a cream-colored mosquito net as its entrance. After being satisfied with the selected product, the customer makes a transaction in the payment area with the cashier's desk that looks floating. This payment area is covered with gray partitions on two sides that appear hidden when viewed from the front of the store.

This store is designed by D415 to meet the commercial purpose of a store and as a space to showcase the work of fashion designers. With all the elements made simple to highlight the products sold, the introverted x extroverted theme applied to the display arrangement can be felt by visitors as a form of space experience.
