Bringing the Sardinia Beach into the Interior of “Myrto” Restaurant

January 12, 2024

Sardinia Beach, located in Porto Cervo, Italy, is stunning with granite rocks all around. These granite rocks are formed by wind scrapings that interact with the natural green color of the Mediterranean Sea. This is the inspirational story behind the Myrto Restaurant renovation project carried out by Studio Wok. Therefore, this project is considered a tribute to the environment, especially Sardinia Beach.

In designing Myrto Restaurant, Studio Wok wanted to create an intimate atmosphere that refers to the typical Mediterranean design. As is known, typical Mediterranean designs usually try to harmonize the natural conditions around buildings. This can be seen from the materials used are mostly natural from nature, such as clay or natural stone materials used in building walls.

When entering this restaurant, the cozy atmosphere is instantly felt by the diners. Studio Wok "brings" this restaurant to life by applying natural color tones with calm but still elegant colors. The color palette was chosen because it was inspired by the natural color of the Sardinia Beach granite stones featuring the green color typical of the Mediterranean Sea.

Looking deeper, the interior space is designed with visuals resembling caves that are curved in the architecture, this is intended to remind the ancient design typical of the Mediterranean. To reinforce the Mediterranean design, Studio Wok placed open windows and accesses that connected each rectangular space and a slight arc on it.

The interior of the space with a naturally neutral color, combined with the color of green furniture that exudes landscape colors makes Myrto Restaurant more unique and characterful. As a complement, Studio Wok also added an outdoor terrace that was made into a semi-outdoor space with a white roof with a little gap that was able to create interactions from the wind and sunlight to the vines around it.

By creating a new identity for this renovation project, Myrto Restaurant was able to attract diners through its "bold" design. The application of furniture with a light and simple shape is specially designed to balance the typical Mediterranean design.

In addition, the selection of materials, colors, and shapes of furniture were chosen and designed specifically for Myrto Restaurant to create an identity with a mature concept that is in harmony with the environment around Sardinia Beach.
