Art Nouveau Revival: Casa 1923's Colorful Elegance & Historic Splendor
Colorful ceramics with floral and plant motifs decorate the facade of Casa 1923 which is located on a side street in the city of Faro, Portugal. The combination of materials and curved shapes on the facade lead residents into soft pink spaces that exude art nouveau beauty.

This is a renovation project that aims to protect the original values of the building which have almost been lost. This house was designed with an art nouveau concept which is able to evoke the historical values in the building. A wooden door with beautiful carvings on each side leads to a long hallway decorated with floral patterned ceramics that connects the rooms and various other rooms.

Stepping into a building with an elongated layout, the rooms are divided into two levels with a hallway in the middle as a circulation area. Three bedrooms with prism-shaped ceilings lined up on either side of the hallway occupy the first floor which is equipped with a bathroom and kitchen at the back of the house. A staircase in the back area of the house decorated with green grass leads to 2 units equipped with a kitchen and a multifunctional room with a terrace that offers beautiful views of the blue sky.

Decorative elements that emphasize Art Nouveau are depicted in every corner of the house, starting from the use of soft pink on all wall surfaces combined with floral patterned ceramics in the same color tone. Wall panels in similar colors blend perfectly with the wooden floor and ceiling that fill the bedroom, creating a warm atmosphere. The white and pink ceramics that cover the bathroom accentuate the beauty that is synonymous with art nouveau, as does the presence of brass material that covers the surfaces of the home appliances.

The white color covering the exterior walls looks in harmony with the pink color on the interior walls. The windows and doors are designed in a semi-curved shape that frames the beautiful outside view while bringing coolness into the house. The use of patterned ceramic elements, pink panels and wall paint in the same tone as well as contrasting brass materials, creates a nostalgia that not only brings the atmosphere of Art Nouveau architecture but also creates an atmosphere full of history and splendor of the 1920s.
