Restaurant With Floating Brick Roof by Play Architecture

Play Architecture has designed the DevaDhare Dining Space in the small village of Saklespur, Karnataka, India.  There is a 10-hectare resort that needs a restaurant as a supporting facility for its visitors. Play Architecture then designed a restaurant above the river, within its environment. The restaurant provides an amazing view for visitors, featuring a quiet environment. The restaurant is surrounded by green nature and streams, where people can eat and drink with a sense of calm. The design is inspired by geometry and the forces of nature, which can connect the inside of the restaurant to the outside. So both sides can blend and become a whole.

DevaDhare Dining Space uses two separate structural systems that allow the floor slabs and roof trusses to be unrelated. Thus, this building becomes more construction efficient and certainly cost-effective as well. Its 32-millimeter-thick floor slab of granite is supported by light steel columns that visually imply a fascination with the surrounding nature. Meanwhile, for the roof, it is a timbrel dome from an arrangement of bricks that are locked in every corner. This kind of roof is felt to be suitable for the terrain, as well as giving flexibility in the design of the structure. In addition, the decision also encourages flexibility in the spatial planning of the interior. In other words, the design of DevaDhare Dining Space also highlights the sustainability aspect because it can save energy use, both in summer and winter.

Can accommodate 50-60 guests, DevaDhare Dining Space offers an unusual dining experience with a calming atmosphere. Each visitor can choose a seat, whether indoors or outdoors with a bright sky as a 'roof'. If you choose the open side of DevaDhare Dining Space, then simultaneously visitors will get a view of the lake in front of it. Being in the midst of nature like this is indeed an advantage for Deva Dhare Dining Space.
