Mukaab as Part of the Saudi Vision 2030 plan

The Government of Saudi Arabia recently launched a master plan for its latest mega project. As before, this mega project is part of Saudi Vision's 2030 plan to diversify the country's economy, funded by the Public Investment Fund. The Saudi Arabian government launched the mega-project on February 16, 2023, under the name 'Mukaab', a 400-meter-high cube-shaped skyscraper as part of the plans for downtown Murabba in Riyadh.

Described as the "new face of Riyadh", Mukaab was built northwest of downtown Riyadh, a 19-square-kilometer development planned as a new urban center for the Saudi capital. Mukaab will be "one of the largest buildings in the world," with its structure 400 meters high and 400 meters long on each side, making it a very tall skyscraper. The cube-shaped building will be covered with a façade made of triangular shapes that overlap the architectural design of modern Najdi. 

Mukaab is part of the wider Murabba district. The wider development will include more than 100,000 residential units and 9,000 hotel rooms, more than 980,000 square meters of shops, and 1.4 million square meters of office space. It will also include 80 entertainment and cultural venues, a university of technology and design, an immersive multipurpose theater, and an "iconic" museum. According to the Saudi Arabian government, the project will be completed by 2030.

In this vision, the Kingdom does want to 'change the new face of Saudi' for the sake of the economy.
