Frank Architecture Brings a Japanese Atmosphere to Hello Sunshine
Hello Sunshine is a Japanese BBQ and sushi restaurant equipped with a karaoke bar. Located in Banff National Park, Canada, Frank Architecture wants to bring the atmosphere of Japanese buildings to create a memorable dining experience. The underlying design concept is a psychedelic inverted cabin inspired by graphic designer Tadanori Yokoo during an expedition to the Rocky Mountains.
"The spatial planning is intended to feel organic and meandering. Upon entry, the restaurant isn't immediately visible but is slowly revealed as one moves through space." Said Frank Architecture.
The Interior Design of Hello Sunshine
The interior design of this restaurant uses wood material on almost all elements of the space. Several columns of wooden structures of considerable diameter support the construction, and the ceiling is high. Among these columns, there are various seating options that visitors can wear. A circular bar with a natural wooden countertop at the back features several brick-red stools. In the middle of the room are a pair of round tables displaying a bonfire. Visitors can sit in a circle and feel the warmth while enjoying the dishes. The table is placed under a chimney covered with shiny ceramic tiles.

This restaurant has various types of seating, so visitors can choose between communal benches, cubicles, and bar stools on circular tables. On one side, the seats of the communal benches are decorated with wooden shingle walls. This area uses wood material on all design elements but is applied with different motifs and types of wood so that it looks like the natural wood fibers add to the room's aesthetics.
Sitting Area with Natural Wood Material
The Japanese atmosphere presented in this restaurant is like white paper lanterns, and textile artwork hung from the ceiling combined with checkered curtains and wood materials. The blue sofa becomes a contrast and gives color between the wood materials, so they are not monotonous. This blue color matches some of the textile artworks on display. At the forefront of the restaurant, a bench that blends into the table gets natural sunlight from the wooden windows that connect the restaurant with the surrounding environment. This influx of sunlight gives warmth to the room.

The restaurant also has karaoke facilities at the back, patterned carpets, and disco ball lights that add color and sparkle to the wood-paneled room. The sparkle of colored lights will add to the energetic impression of the room. Besides offering food and beverages, the complete facilities offered by Hello Sunshine can also entertain customers who come to enjoy BBQ and sushi dishes at this restaurant.
