The renovated apartment located in Lisbon, Portugal with an area of 100 m2 was rented by a young family with a particular feature which is separating the public and private space—apartment TM8, designed by DC.AD has undergone significant changes; the new arrangement of the walls and all elements in the living room and kitchen to create a wider public space.

Insisting on creating a spacious space with abundant natural light, the design team kept the existing structural walls and other elements. The old pergola was improved by adding a new frame painted in Client Blue which looks in contrast with the walls and floor. Meanwhile, the kitchen area is designed as a stand-alone block painted in light colors to brighten the room further. These features, including all the appliances which are selected precisely, demonstrate the adaptability of this wide space to provide a functional area while embracing the open floor plan flexibility.

In this renovation program, the design team transformed the existing balcony, connecting the two bedrooms, into a new outdoor living room while maintaining the existing third bedroom as a private area. Colorful tiles completely cover the balcony’s floor resulting in creating a reflection of light while the lush greeneries present the natural hues of the house.

Similar tiles, painted in white, grace the wet areas by covering the whole surface, creating a visual continuity in this area. Adding the visual aesthetic, the matching door with striking blue arches graces the living room, creating a sweet elegance all over the room. This massive transformation has created a new face for the apartment and flooded the whole room with a warm and pleasant atmosphere.
