Colorful Installations Brightened Up Coachella Valley 2022
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival at Empire Polo Club, California, comes back to feature some spectacular art installations designed by several international artists and designers. One of them is the Italian-based architectural design studio, Architensions, which participated in an installation building called “The Playground”.

Architensions presents a Romanesque-inspired playground through its colorful art installations. The Playground aims to bring urbanism to the Coachella festival by creating four towers. Each of the four towers has a height of 12 to 17 meters and is connected by an overpass painted in orange, yellow, and purple colors. The design was inspired by classical Roman and is reinforced by the presence of arches that show the characteristics of Roman architecture.
Features a variety of geometric shapes with a touch of Dichroic Film glass décor
The Playground features various geometric shapes with a touch of dichroic film window decoration in cyan, magenta, and yellow. These colors were chosen to be able to react to lighting while giving a different look during the day. In addition, bright colors are applied to provide a dynamic visual experience. Mirrors that are deliberately designed and placed inside the tower allow festival-goers to interact with each other. At night, this mirror shines with light reflected by the lights of the show and activity around the building. At the center of the four towers known as the “Italianate”, there's a blue chair that serves as a place for visitors to rest.

Besides The Playground and Spectra, there are several installations that adorn Coachella. Artist Christopher Cichocki also enlivened the art installation at Coachella, his work known as “Circular Dimensions x Microscape” featuring a 15-meter-high pavilion, consisting of three tunnels and walls that resemble the shape of a ribbon shell. The installation is equipped with technology that displays moving images inside the central tunnel.
Some of the installations that have graced the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival have been created as the perfect space for people to gather, interact and have fun.
