A platform dedicated to art, design, and creative encounters based in Bali, CCG will welcome French designer duo Clémence Plumelet and Geoffrey Pascal of Studio Marcel Poulain, from 28th April to 3rd June 2024. Conceived as a one-month immersion into Bali’s rich culture, ADIR will allow the designers to explore the island’s natural materials and traditional techniques in a direct dialogue with Balinese artisans. The designers will have the opportunity to share their practice and inspiring journey with local creative communities and professionals, as part of a one-week roadshow that will take the duo to the cities of Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Bandung, and Jakarta.

Based on their experimentations and own interpretation, the designers will create a collection of objects as a sensitive response to this unique experience, which will then be presented at various design fairs and events in Indonesia and France.

ADIR 2024 builds upon two first successful editions, increasingly bringing more visibility to the potential of Balinese crafts within the world of French design and on the international scene. ADIR’s first resident Marta Bakowski recently won the French Design 100 award for her striking and poetic “Fragments: impressions of Bali '' collection, which she created as the culmination of the residency. The award is the only of its kind in France rewarding design projects that make French design shine internationally. ADIR’s second resident Pierre Charrié will present his upcoming collection as part of Paris Design Week in September 2024.

ADIR 2024 Designer Profile
French designer duo Clémence Plumelet and Geoffrey Pascal of Studio Marcel Poulain
Clémence Plumelet and Geoffrey Pascal of Studio Marcel Poulain are both graduates of the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands, Clémence Plumelet and Geoffrey Pascal are textile and furniture designers, who founded their own design and interior studio named Marcel Poulain in 2021. Inspired by the rich heritage of design around the world and from centuries past, they see design as a medium to create a dialogue across generations and cultures. Unrestricted by the industry’s settings, their work is guided by experimentation.
Exploring materiality and letting themselves be surprised by artisanal know-how and techniques, they strive to broaden the horizons of their creativity, aiming to create pieces that will sustain the test of time. Working step-by-step in tandem, from the material to the object, from the furniture to the interior, they develop a comprehensive experience with a strong sense of storytelling, where the scenography enables the objects to come to life. The colorful and playful quality of their creations has earned them recognition, as they are notably featured among the 2024 French Design 100, celebrating the best and most promising French designers internationally.
