The Octopus Installation from Recycled Materials at TFD K11 MUSEA

The project started with a visit by the Leaping Creative team to one of the recycling sites. This inspired Leaping Creative to design a store with a contemporary design concept.

Clothing store The Door Fashion applies recycled materials.

The Fashion Door clothing store is located at K11 MUSEA, Hong Kong. K11 MUSEA is located on the Taikoo pier with the first floor being below sea level, so the design concept in this store adopts the shape of marine life. The design process begins through Leaping Creative's thinking about the ocean and the use of recycled materials which ends up building an industrial-style business space.

Octopus installation with recycled materials.

To create artistic expression Leaping Creative created an installation placed in the central area of the store with an area of more than 100 square meters. The materials used to make this installation are recycled materials, not only used recycled materials but also new items that cannot be used for production. The shape resembles an octopus, this installation is made using translucent PMMA material where shop visitors can see the used vehicle engines applied to the installation.

Shoe display using aluminum and resin strips.

In addition to the installation, the display of shoes is no less interesting to look at, it is made using translucent resin in which a collection of aluminum strips can be seen inside. The same approach, collections of aluminum strips are also applied to octopus installations.

The aluminum that dominates the room combines with a color palette of black, stainless steel and gray concrete to highlight the industrial-style interior. The black sofa curved following the curved shape on the walls gives harmony to the space and complements the elements of the space. The lamp hiding in the middle of the column seemed to form a ceiling with bright light.

The application of recycled materials in the interior of The Fashion Door clothing store is aimed at harmonizing the future living space and the value of environmental sustainability. Overall, the design of The Fashion Door clothing store has achieved artistic expression with a thick industrial style combined with a simple contemporary concept.
