Cocina Abierta: Eclectic Food Court in Artz Pedregal, Mexico
In general, food court design is only restricted to the length of the building and the uniformity space of the stalls that surround it. However, something different can be felt when visiting Cocina Abierta. It is a food court that complements the facilities of the Artz Pedregal Mall in Mexico.
The distinction is displayed by MYT (Andrés Mier y Terán) and GLVDK Studio (Regina Galvanduque) through visuals of each culinary brand that represents its true identity. So, visitors can experience different dining experiences through the design language of each brand.

The 1,650-square-meter building welcomes guests with a gleaming black façade and large sliding windows that open leading to a spiral wooden staircase. Entering the inner area, the Cocina Abierta interior looks thick with North American culture with elegant Mexican decorative elements. Another uniqueness is the combination of a simple Japanese design with wood as its characteristic.
The dining hall is equipped with furniture and typical Mexican elements such as striking red chairs, concrete floors interspersed with bright-colored terrazzo, and chandeliers that make the Cocina Abierta interior even more beautiful and classy.

The most prominent thing about Cocina Abierta is the presence of two traditional Japanese and Mexican-style restaurants. The two look so contrasting because their role in complementing each other is so strong.
The first restaurant is Moshi-Moshi which presents the concept of a traditional Japanese restaurant concept. This restaurant brings the Japanese atmosphere very neatly through its lightweight design. In addition, the Japan's characteristic is very thick, which situated in the seats layout that available in the wooden booths.

Furthermore, La Imperial is a typical Mexican cuisine designed with typical details of Mexican buildings in the 19th century. The experience of being in the cantina era will be felt by visitors through the application of patterned tiles, white painted walls, and a wooden bar with an antique design.
Overall, Cocina Abierta has created a different dining experience than the typical food court. Through Cocina Abierta, MYT+ GLVDK Studio has shown that the difference in concepts in one space does not change comfort for culinary lovers.
