ÄNG Restaurant Interior Adopts Scandinavian & Japanese Expression

January 12, 2024

On the expanse of calm grassland in Sweden, there is a building that seems to be exposed to the grass with its presence. This is ÄNG Restaurant, a commercial building designed by Norm Architects, an architectural studio based in Denmark.

Occupying an airy area around the expanse of valleys and meadows, this restaurant looks perfectly harmonious with the surrounding nature. Adjacent to ASTAD's vineyards, ÄNG Restaurant has green natural scenery and provides an unforgettable dining experience for customers.

Upon entering the restaurant, visitors are stunned by the experience presented. How not, the walls of this restaurant use glass to maximize the view towards a wider outside, so that the experience offered is like blending with nature. ÄNG Restaurant is built using a prism-shaped iron structure with a glass exterior that dominates the entire building aimed at creating a warm atmosphere as natural light floods the restaurant lounge and dining room.

Divided into two areas, the ground floor of ÄNG Restaurant accommodates a bar and a cozy lounge area with green natural scenery and a lake on the side. From inside the greenhouse, guests are guided to enter the basement, where they will see a different atmosphere, a blend of vernacular and contemporary aesthetics present throughout the basement.

Norm Architects embodies a specially designed interior design concept with Japanese-style Scandinavian design principles. This can be seen and felt by visitors through a subtle selection of natural ingredients. To enhance the Scandinavian interior but flow in Japanese style, Norm Architects teamed up with Karimoku Japan to design solid wood furniture covered with soft white fabric on top. In addition, he also selectively chose crafts by Anders Pfeffer Gjengedal as a decoration suitable for matching in the interior of ÄNG Restaurant.

In addition to furniture, natural materials are also applied to Chronos floors that stretch on bar tables, floors, and interior walls. In other areas, the quiet space is equipped with gray walls and wooden floors specially ordered. According to Norm Architects, the use of natural materials throughout the space is the personal desire of the owner of ÄNG Restaurant.
