An Southeast Asia Architecture & Interior Design Competition Bringing the Big Theme of “Redefine The Space”

The Platinum Architectural Design Competition (PADC) is a design competition initiated by Platinum Ceramics Industry, which has been held twice in 2022 and 2023. In 2025, PADC returns on a larger scale, open to students from Indonesia and Southeast Asia. This step opens up wider opportunities for students from various countries in Southeast Asia to share their creative perspectives and bring design ideas with cross-cultural backgrounds. 

This year's theme is “Redefine the Space,” which aims to reinterpret the meaning of retail space. Not just a place for buying and selling, participants are challenged to design retail spaces that are functionally capable of accommodating commercial needs that can support business strategies. The retail location used as a case study is the Platinum Ceramics Showroom in Jakarta, a real space that is expected to be redefined as a showroom that is required to be more innovative and have commercial appeal.

PADC 2025 presents a panel of judges from two countries, including M.L. Varudh Varavarn from Vin Varavarn Architects, Thailand, a figure known for his contextual and humanistic architectural works, and Eko Priharseno, principal designer at AEDI Design Bureau, Indonesia, who is experienced in creating designs with strong narratives using a multidisciplinary approach. The presence of these international judges not only adds weight to the competition, but also broadens the participants' horizons regarding global design standards.

Since its inception in 2022, PADC has become a platform for presenting creativity and introducing students to the world of architecture and design in a professional setting. The inaugural edition highlighted how architecture can be a medium for everyday innovation, while the following year expanded the scope of ideas with a focus on more adaptive spatial functions.
