"Black Square" Invites To Play with Infinite Optical Illusions
Russian artist Gregory Orekhov has inaugurated his latest sculpture known as "Black Square." Located in Moscow's Malevich Park, "Black Square" is a large-scale monument created in memory of Kazimir Malevich, a geometric abstract artist known as the originator of the avant-garde suprematism movement.

Gregory Orekhov began to design the Black Square statue by carrying out a bold contemporary concept against the background of Malevich park which became the most important point of the object. Then, Gregory Orekhov then created a work in the form of a large towering mirror so that visitors can admire the surrounding garden environment from the shadows produced by the mirror. The nature of mirrors that depend on the location of objects and shadows is able to provide an opportunity for visitors to create interactive art through gestures of the body supported by the beautiful atmosphere of the surrounding nature.

"Black Square" made of stainless steel is divided into two parts forming a large cube of black color. The experience that Gregory Orekhov offers to visitors is the sensation when passing through the passage to the park. When visitors are inside this passage, they will feel a surreal atmosphere through two mirrors on the right and left sides supported by the surrounding nature.

According to Gregory Orekhov, through optical illusions, visitors will find themselves at a crossroads or entering infinity. The mirror by Gregory Orekhov also offers an endless point of view and presents a different perspective in each constantly changing season.
Through the installation of "Black Square," Gregory Orekhov has created spatial experiences through structures that are open to the surrounding nature.
