March 8, 2024

Trying to break the living-in-a-box norm, a spiral house in Bali offers a new definition of living through its eight-shaped space, allowing the inhabitants to live the way they want to live, define their own spatial experience, and embrace a new, free-spirited way of life.

Its design was inspired by nature's beauty and a desire to break the architectural norms. Then, the architects decided to design a mesmerizing eight-shaped spiral house that stands gracefully on a steep slope. The spiral design also offers an impressive experience, where each space, from the intimate bedrooms to the communal areas, becomes a space full of serenity. From the very first step into the first floor, the breathtaking views of the surrounding rice fields can be seen from all angles.

The spiral stairs that lead from the first floor to the second floor open up to a semi-open living room and cozy bedrooms, all encircled by the layout. Adding more excitement, the rooftop is an open space with a cozy seating area to enjoy the full 360 degrees of the surrounding breathtaking views.

To blend with the surrounding green landscape, the structure is also designed thoughtfully. The eight-shaped layout with a great landscape setting is a true entity of how the architect tries to break the norm and presents a living space full of joy.

By bending materials in two dimensions and creating an eight-shaped living space, The Loop stands as a testament to how architecture can break the ordinary to provide better living spaces with infinite joy and have a harmonious relationship with its surroundings.
