Reza Wahyudi: An Influential Interior Designer for Modern Interior Design in Indonesia

Reza Wahyudi, or, more commonly, Bobos, is an interior designer named among the top Indonesian interior designers. His reliability in producing innovative designs is mostly obtained from his extraordinary imagination. While studying at the International Fine Arts College in Miami, Florida, Bobos made his first debut with a multifunctional bunk bed inspired by a double-decker bus, which made him participate in the National Home Fashion League competition in 1983. Because of his amazing design, Bobos won it, ranked first for the Florida branch, and entered the top ten nationally in the US.

He has created many bold and unusual designs with his design studio, Bobos Design, which he founded in 1985. His design works include housing, office, commercial, and furniture projects that are national and international. Each design produced displays many unique, interesting, and fun elements. He believes that each of his works is more meaningful if they are based on creativity and design, but can also solve problems. For him, this is an important element in answering the needs of society and making it his company motto.

Bobos Design is also involved in initiating the concept of modern art deco design in Indonesia. His breakthroughs impacted and contributed to developing and changing more modern interior design in Indonesia. Not only in Indonesia, Bobos has succeeded in spreading its wings to foreign countries. The work of Reza Wahyudi's cool hands is indeed beyond doubt. Thanks to his tenacity and perseverance in producing amazing design works, Bobos Design has won various awards in the design field. Reza Wahyudi joined with eleven other interior designers known as ID12 (12 Indonesian Interior Designers), including Agam Riadi, Anita Boentarman, Ary Juwono, Eko Priharseno, Joke Roos, Prasetio Budhi, Sammy Hendramianto, Roland Adam, Shirley Gouw, Vivianne Faye, and Yuni Jie. Every two years, The Colors of Indonesia exhibition presents an exhibition with a design concept that results from the designers' interpretation to create a variety of innovative design works that are open to the public. Carrying the mission of wanting to jointly raise the world of domestic design to a higher level by presenting it elegantly with international standards.
