After graduating from the Department of Architecture at Parahyangan Catholic University in Bandung in 1998, Gregorius Yolodi started his career in architecture and became a visionary architect under his own architecture firm, d-associates. Not long after establishing his firm, Maria Rosantina, who graduated from the same university, joined Gregorius at d-associates to extend their visionary designs.

Architecture from Gregorius and Maria's perspective

Interpreting the word of architecture as a building and a process of crafting spaces where new life stories unfold, Gregorius and Maria consistently hold on to their design fundamentals that focus on the context and sensibility of every project's local values, society, and natural environment.

"Architecture is the art that we live in, a logical decision decided by senses, and a statement of free life with contextual consciousness." – Gregorius Yolodi and Maria Rosantina.

The five fundamentals that reside at the core of d-associates

Their perspective of architecture and the fundamentals that live in the heart of d-associates play a pivotal role in their design process. Passionate in architecture becomes the main key to designing, which symbolizes a root on a tree, growing the architecture soul to thrive.

The sense in architecture, as the second fundamental acts like the stem of a tree, gives huge support in developing the architecture. Besides that, skills in architecture are honed like a sharp knife for creating an effective creation. Meanwhile, balance maintains an equilibrium between private life and architecture, and science enhances the abilities and senses in architecture.

Expressing their artistic touch through their remarkable architectural creations

These fundamentals drive Gregorius and Maria to paint their ideas in architectural designs that reflect the surroundings and embrace local values.

Through these fundamentals, Gregorius and Maria are given credence to lead some historical and big projects, the renovation project of the main stadium of Gelora Bung Karno, the Madya Athletic Stadium, and the new Baseball Stadium. Due to their successful work in leading those projects, Gregorius and Maria have earned national recognition as honored architects in Indonesia.

Contextuality is poured into their creations; one is the IDX Building in Surabaya, designed to adapt to the new situation in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, which blurs indoor-outdoor boundaries. Locality in architecture is drawn on a local library in Walandano Village, Sulawesi, using local wood materials that create an integrated reading space and inclusive public space and blur the boundaries between the spaces.

In essence, Gregorius Yolodi and Maria Rosantina go beyond constructing buildings; they craft living stories through spaces, creating an inspirational architectural legacy for the future.

"We consistently define architecture through modernist forms, emphasizing a sensibility that pays attention to locals and spatial context, ensuring that architecture becomes an intact holistic thought closely aligned with its contextuality." - Gregorius and Maria.
