The Process Behind Tropicality Houses by Andra Matin

Andra Matin through the book 'Tropicality Houses by Andra Matin' launched on August 16, 2024 is Andra Matin's first monograph book for more than 26 years of work, a book that contains 16 houses of his works. In general, publications will contain content that is beautified or enhanced in the publication photos, but in this book of tropicality houses, you will find various houses that have been inhabited for dozens to perhaps decades, resulting in various changes and 'as is' content that may be more relatable to real daily life.

This book also contains Andra Matin's personal house, where this house becomes the identity of Andra Matin's houses, which wants to interpret modern home architecture combined with typical Indonesian vernacular architecture, namely houses on stilts, so that in his various works Andra Matin's specialty is a house that is made to have an identity like a stilt house.

The process behind this book is presented in the exhibition 'PROSES' at Kopimanyar from August 17 to October 9, 2024, this exhibition contains works that are not possible to be included in the book so that clearly, through videos, mockups, and various sketches told about the process of the houses in the book. 

The book is a long-standing collaboration between studio andramatin, BYO Living, and published by Thames and Hudson, an international publisher since 1949.
