Woven Screen: Simultaneously Crafting and Blurring Boundaries
To create a delightful work environment that boosts productivity, a Vietnamese architecture studio, Takashi Niwa Architects, strategically positioned numerous three-dimensional perforated concrete blocks inspired by Vietnamese terracotta blocks, enhancing the sense of unity and working efficiency.

Embodying the design principles of openness, connectivity, privacy, and public engagement, those three-dimensional blocks are positioned along the curved layout of the working space, accommodating diverse departments and defining the boundaries within the workspace. Thanks to its perforated designs, those boundaries can be blurred, enhancing the convenience of every worker where they can create their own private space but still connect with others.

Inspired by the Vietnamese terracotta blocks design, those three-dimensional blocks optimize the air circulation inside the room by letting the air flow through the perforated surface. The same perforated surface is also designed to distribute the light throughout the space, optimizing the lighting inside and creating a dynamic interplay of illumination on the floor.

The combination of the white-coated concrete blocks with the wooden ceiling and the dark tapestry presents a modern yet serene ambiance inside the working space, aligned with its function as a working space. The synergy extends to the furniture, where the wooden tables harmonize with the black chairs, presenting the harmony of each element.

Despite physically separating the spaces, those three-dimensional blocks dissolve the boundaries, fostering connectivity and unity between each room. Ultimately, this marvelous design promotes unity, creates a delightful working space, and enhances productivity.
