Clap Studio explains how they started their journey in designing a retail space located on the Fashion Walk, Hong Kong. According to her, the café called HER is indeed designed for women. This is Clap Studio's offering to create a space that promotes feminism by blending the basic concepts of women's personalities. Then, Clap Studio translated it into an HER café that looks elegant but adorable.

"HER is an ambitious project of his client, Hilary Tsui. Her client's desire to create a dedicated retail space for women, bringing together two women's passions in one place, namely fashion and gastronomy," the Clap Studio Said.

After talking a lot with their clients who work as a stylist, Clap Studio then got three important points that can reflect HER's identity, namely femininity, purity, and strength. From here, the team envisions HER as a tortuous landscape, deeply aligned with the representation of women as a whole.

The design of HER began with an overview of the initial idea featuring an interior with steps representing impressive mountains and the use of pure materials. The appearance of this interior is like creating a new place that has never been found on earth. Therefore, the red color of the carefully designed bricks and steps is like describing the planet Mars. Through this concept, Clap Studio aims to take customers to a new "planet" through HER.

The concept of the new planet starts from the front façade of HER which features two curved-shaped entrances. This door provides a glimpse into the interior so that customers can feel the peaceful atmosphere from the outside. This is what HER's gravity is for pulling its customers inside. The two aluminum entrances are designed with different functions, one door is for café customers who want takeaway while the other is for access to the fashion store and into the café to dine in.

When indoors, customers will be greeted with terracotta floors that spread to the stacked display area, this arrangement seems to form a mountainous landscape. This area is not only used to display products but also functions as a sitting area. To complement the existing steps, Clap Studio added greenery that is a counterbalance to the beauty of the HER interior.

The walls and ceiling are dominated by white tones interspersed with orange circle windows that reinforce the concept of space travel. The use of aluminum is continued from the façade to the interior to align every corner of the HER applied to the café bar counter and cashier's countertop, as well as the curved frame in the display area. To complete the space travel experience, the customer will receive fashion products that he buys from retail in vacuum packaging, with this the customer can feel what it is like to be on a planet other than Earth.
