Jungle Planet Recreation Space for Children in China
D10 children's activity space is located in the center of Jinjiang District, China, adjacent to the Taikoo Li business district, with views of high-rise buildings. The crowded surroundings, with bustling city activities, require a space where children can play and develop safely, comfortably, and feel protected. Because play is a fun, spontaneous, and recreational activity that can stimulate the motor and cognitive development of the child. Therefore, Xisui Design designed this place according to the characteristics of children and was inspired by the natural undulating cave terrain in the forest.

Judging from the site plan, this children's activity space has a dynamic shape with artificial arches. Some play facilities are inspired by organic forms of nature and plants. Another arena is shaped like a meteorite in the earth's atmosphere. From above, it can be seen that the painting motifs on the floor are made winding and colorful to increase the energy of enthusiasm for visitors. Apart from being a place for children to play, adults can also feel relaxed here, suitable for walking and playing with children.

The Jungle Planet-themed design is designed to give children expressive attention, creating landscapes that can give a good visual impression and are functional. One of them is on objects with structural roofs of three-ply wooden tiles. The shape is dynamic but does not have too much internal space. Therefore, children can reach the top of this object with a pilot ladder, then go down to the bottom using a slide. The curved shape widely used in this place is not only to support the theme but also as a preventive safety measure for children not to be injured with pointed angles. Because children have active and agile movements, the safety factor is a special concern in the design.

In another area, a curved wall with several holes of varying magnitude in colorful paint with children's favorite cartoon images. The hole in this wall functions as a safe swing for children because it is not too high. Then, behind the curved wall can be used as a wall climbing by placing a footrest that can be reached by a child's posture. These play activities are carried out by children to trigger good motor development, including physical movement development and nerve maturity in children.

The design by Xisui Design is very responsive to the characteristics of children. One is on a play object with a meteorite-like shape placed at several points in this D10 children's activity space. With many holes, it allows the child to have curiosity about what is inside the object. This object can also be a hide-and-seek arena because it can be used as a hiding place if the child enters it.

D10 children's activity space-themed Jungle Planet combines the characteristics of children with existing sites, using the principles of landscape architecture design to create an environment that coexists and responds to nature. This place is also very functional for the activities children need in busy urban life.
