"Sumarah" Residential Cylinder Made of Recycled Bamboo and Plastic
Piyandeling is a residence and artisan workshop project located in a remote area in Mekarwangi Village, Bandung. Piyandeling residence and artisan workshops were built to facilitate residential houses, dental clinics, and studios as spaces for meetings, workshops or meditation, and yoga.
The project consists of three main building structures, the first of which is a private family house known by the name of "Sumarah." While the second building is described as "Kujang" and the third building is named "Saderhana".
Sumarah façade with recycled plastic material
Realrich Architecture Workshop (RAW), designed the Piyandeling construction with 3 main materials, namely recycled plastic, sympodial bamboo, and stone as the foundation. Carved bamboo was applied to ceilings, floors, columns, and doors to finish details in the room such as window sills, door handles, locks, and others.
Bamboo stairs to go to the second floor
"Sumarah," is the name of a three-story residential house designed with a bricolage concept. In this project, RAW explores how to apply bamboo in a cylindrical plan structure with spaces that have a rectangular shape.
Living room Sumarah House
The design that looks floating is adapted from the approach of traditional Indonesian houses. The first floor accommodates a carport and public restrooms. Go upstairs through a staircase made of bamboo, accommodating the living room, toilet, and two bedrooms. Meanwhile, the third floor is devoted to the master bedroom which is equipped with a bathroom inside.

Sumarah windows are made from recycled plastic
Inside the "Sumarah" residential house, there is a long arched corridor, besides that there are also windows made of recycled plastic material and bamboo sills which have become the main material in the design of "Sumarah." Interestingly, the large-scale leaf-shaped door design is specially designed by utilizing the handicrafts of local residents as one that provides a visual like a fairy tale world house. LED lights applied to the ceiling of the house also highlight the aesthetics of bamboo at night and make the atmosphere of the house intimate but relaxed.

Bamboo is the main material applied to Sumarah
Some furniture designed using bamboo with various shapes is intended to add to the impression of a traditional Indonesian house. No less interesting, the façade of the building that envelops the interior with recycled plastic material also combines with the roof that twists and turns on it so that it gives a unique identity to the residential house "Sumarah."
"Sumarah," a residential house filled with bamboo and recycled plastic windows provides a well-thought-out layout by RAW providing good circulation for the occupants of the house.
