Diriyah Company, which holds the responsibility to realize the Diriyah project, was inspired by the birthplace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its foremost historical, cultural, and lifestyle destination. With distinctive cultural, historical, and tourism landmarks, Diriyah proudly presents 300 years of Saudi Arabia’s history to the world. Two of several important projects have been unveiled which are the UNESCO World Heritage Site of At-Turaif and Bujairi Terrace. Mentioned as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010, the historic district of At-Turaif overlooks Wadi Hanifah and the Diriyah oasis.

Meanwhile, a renowned architect, Snohetta, recently unveiled their latest design for the Royal Diriyah Opera House. The Royal Diriyah Opera House is part of a wider master plan for the Diriyah project. It is set to open in 2028 to provide a new stage for future performers, audiences, and cultural exchange. This 46,000 square meter opera house will accommodate around 3,500 people across four venues. This opera house also provides a 2000-seat theater, two smaller theaters, and a shaded rooftop amphitheater for outdoor performances.
The project consists of a cluster of buildings that are interconnected by open passages throughout which will provide a full protection from the intense sun heat. The green gardens are open to both the opera house visitors and the wider public visitors.

Snøhetta's design for the new opera house is response to the area's vernacular archetypes, local crafts, and its surrounding desert landscape. Once this project is completed, it can embrace the precious values of the Najdi desert landscape and its cultural heritage.
