BLOCO Arquitetos Creates The “U” Shaped House Called Colina
Bloco Arquitetos has completed a residential building located in Brasilia. Occupying an area of 520m2 this house stands on the highest level in the existing surrounding. When viewed from above, the construction of this building is in the shape of the letter "U" with the garden in the middle.
(Colina's house looks like a concrete block with brick ornaments on one of the walls)
The owner defines this house as having two wings with garden access as a distraction. Around the house, several trees are deliberately left towering to provide visual and functional freshness.
(a middle yard of the house is overgrown with various green plants)
The bedroom and living room are located at the confluence of the two wings, positioned according to the criteria of orientation to sunlight but also according to the privacy of the owner.
(the presence of trees in the yard adds a fresh and green atmosphere)
The use of sills marks the difference in treatment between the outer material of the house which is resistant to rain, sun, and dust with the inner material which is protected and closer to the touch of the occupants of the house.
(at night the lights incandescent from the pool emit a blue color)
While the outer surface of the house is composed of concrete walls that are able to withstand loads and are strong against the weather, and solid brick walls–materials that are environmentally friendly and visually beautiful.

The use of wood, concrete, and brick materials that are left unfinished makes this house feel like it is one with the surrounding environment. Moreover, the presence of a garden in the middle of the existing building and the towering trees surrounding the house function as an air filter so that the air entering the house is always fresh, as well as sunlight that can freely penetrate the interior of the house through the existing openings.
(sunlight that enters the room will form patterns that come from the shadows of the leaves)
Overall, this house has a unique and ergonomic design. Natural materials are used to make the house more comfortable, healthy, and warm.
