Hanrow Wood Taiyuan's Shop: A Representation of Shanxi Street in China

In 2021, Hanrow Wood– a local company in the field of product design, collaborated with Hoooldesign Studio to design its newest store located in Shanxi, China.

The Shanxi area is known to have a warm environment because the residents there are full of hospitality and love to interact. Created this interaction without reason because the citizens' houses have large courtyards, and the city manager also facilitates public areas and comfortable streets.

Seeing Shanxi's life full of warmth, Hoooldesign Studio decided to wrap it in a smaller landscape and represent it through the Hanrow Wood Taiyuan store. The idea is poured into the form and atmosphere of 'street life' through the arrangement of complex store layouts. The team translated the concept by focusing on space division horizontally and vertically.

The interior design of the 460-square-meter building presents small streets and enclosed spaces such as plazas. To highlight the high interaction-laden street life, Hoooldesign Studio presents several boxy areas that expand the possibilities for users to interact in them.

The space design seems to violate the norms of what is understand as interior design because Hoooldesign Studio designed these spaces by changing their shafts and dimensions so that some of these box spaces cross the horizontal line in the building. The uniqueness that is characteristic of the Honrow Wood Taiyuan store

In its design this time, Hoooldesign Studio utilizes raw materials that are left exposed to the walls of its construction. Exposed concrete walls are here to express and accentuate the original street environment in Shanxi. Meanwhile, wood and green vegetation are allowed to flow across the entire space to emphasize the image and corporate spirit of Hanrow Wood Taiyuan.

The project expects to change and grow with user experience and exposure varying over time.
