the characteristics of a ranch house aren't necessarily companies by traditional interior designs

However, the characteristics of a ranch house aren't necessarily companies by traditional interior designs, but the concept of a house dubbed the Hive House is a combination of modern life with historic architecture. Visually, this one-story residence is characterized by a low profile, linear, asymmetrical courtyard plan, bedrooms, vaulted living area, mixed exterior materials, and large glass doors leading to an outdoor terrace.

Furthermore, The Ranch Mine used the unique shape and privacy of this house to create a site that extends into the landscape. The building stretches to direct residents and guests into the courtyard plan of the central communal area. Meanwhile, the main building has a low triangular roof. The tapered volume at the Hive House is used to signify the entrance and the main living area is flanked by a flat roof to maintain a low linear profile to meet the area's strict zoning height restrictions.

When entering the pointed living room, residents and guests will be greeted by a view of the backyard. Then, they'll find a poured concrete fireplace in the communal area with glass-door access that leads to a covered patio, pool, hot tub, and sunken fire pit outside. While on one side of the living room is a kitchen home office that has cross ventilation with sufficient sun exposure.

On the other side, the bedroom is located separately from the rest of the room. This room has a workspace, service room, and a mudroom with a place to bathe the dog. This was done to give reinforcement to the traditional farmhouse design that separates the bedrooms a little further. Then, to separate the main house and the entertainment house, The Ranch Mine uses a garage that can be accessed directly from outside the house
